To be honest, I had never been a huge fan of tonkotsu ramen. I usually found the broth too heavy. However, this visit completely changed my opinion.
The menu is simple, which gives the restaurant the confidence of a true ramen specialty shop.
I ordered their signature Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was rich and flavorful without any unpleasant pork smell. It had a deep, creamy taste while remaining surprisingly clean and balanced.
Some reviews mention that the broth can be salty, but the restaurant allows customers to adjust the seasoning. I chose the less salty option, and it was perfect for my taste.
The noodles were pleasantly firm, and the chashu pork was tender and soft. Before I realized it, I had finished the entire bowl.
With its Japanese-style counter seating, Masugu Ramen is also an excellent place for solo diners. If you enjoy authentic tonkotsu ramen, this restaurant is definitely worth visiting.
A Relaxing Coffee Break at Tohagaroa
Although it was a warm day, I decided to take a short walk after lunch and headed to Tohagaroa.
The café is small but peaceful, with carefully selected music creating an atmosphere that almost feels like traveling abroad. The colorful interior has a South American influence, making it quite different from many cafés in Seoul.
I learned that the owner studied coffee in Portugal and further developed coffee-making skills in Brazil, which explains the café’s distinctive identity.
The name “Tohagaroa” is also memorable. It comes from Portuguese words that can be interpreted as “to roast” and “drizzle.” The poetic image of “roasting drizzle” perfectly matches the café’s calm and artistic atmosphere.
I ordered a cup of specialty coffee with a slice of cheesecake. The coffee had a clean finish with a pleasant aroma, while the cheesecake was light, not overly sweet, and paired beautifully with the coffee.
