Essential Tips from Seoul City for BTS Gwanghwamun Concert
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has launched a comprehensive guide. Here are the must-know details before you head to Gwanghwamun Square.
a. Safety First: “Stadium-Style” Crowd Control
For the first time for an outdoor street event, Seoul is implementing a “stadium-style” gate system.
• Designated Gates: There will be 31 designated gates around the Gwanghwamun area. All attendees must pass through these gates for security checks.
• Prohibited Items: Please travel light! Large bags, professional filming equipment (without permits), and hazardous materials are strictly prohibited. Metal detectors will be in use at all entry points.
b. Real-Time Facilities Map
Seoul City has collaborated with Naver Maps to provide real-time information. You can check the location of:
• Temporary Restrooms: Over 2,000 public and portable toilets will be installed.
• First Aid Stations: Medical personnel will be stationed throughout the venue for any emergencies.
• If you couldn’t get into the main zone, large screens will be set up near Seoul City Hall and Sejong-daero for public viewing.
c. Restricted Access to Nearby Buildings
To prevent accidents, access to the rooftops and upper floors of 31 buildings surrounding Gwanghwamun Square will be restricted.
• Don’t try to find a “secret viewing spot” on a rooftop; security will be tight. The best view is from the ground, surrounded by the energy of the crowd!
d. “Seoul Stay Lounge” at Seoul City Hall
From March 20th to April 12th, the B1 floor of Seoul City Hall will transform into the “Seoul Stay Lounge.”
• It’s a perfect resting spot for fans. You can see the “Lego Haechi” photo zone and enjoy various K-culture exhibits. It’s a great place to meet other fans and recharge your phone!

After tour, you need a meal that recharges your soul.
Oyang Sikgwan (오양식관) – The Heart of Kimchi Stew, a place that captures the essence of “Seoulite comfort food.”
The taste of food
Their signature dish is Kimchi Duruchigi (spicy stir-fried pork with aged kimchi). The depth of flavor in their kimchi is remarkable, achieved through a long fermentation process. Unlike tourist-heavy restaurants, Oyang Sikgwan offers a raw, authentic taste of Korea.

Side dishes are unlimited refills, so you can bring them from the self-bar.

Hidden in the basement of an office building, Oyang Sikgwan is a legendary spot among locals. It’s famous for its Kimchi Jjigae.
Authentic, bustling, and friendly. It feels like a hidden bunker where hungry locals gather for a real Korean meal.
Their Kimchi stew has a deep, rich flavor that only comes from well-fermented kimchi. One of the best parts? Add ramen noodles! You can add them to your stew to soak up all that delicious broth.
It’s a great way to experience “Gwanghwamun style” lunch culture. It’s hearty, affordable, and incredibly satisfying.

Recommendation
For those who aren’t used to spice, I recommend ordering a side of steamed egg (Gyeran-jjim) to balance the heat.
The egg rolls here are really savory and I can taste your mom’s hand.
It’s a bustling, lively basement restaurant where you can see the real daily lives of Gwanghwamun workers.

b. Cafe Hummingbird / Beolsae (카페 벌새)
After a spicy and filling meal, take a short walk toward the Seochon area to find Cafe Hummingbird (Beolsae). The name “Hummingbird” (Beolsae in Korean) perfectly matches this small, delicate, and vibrant space.

This cafe is a hidden gem that reflects the artistic soul of the neighborhood.

This place is so popular that there could be waiting.

The name “Hummingbird” suits the space perfectly—it feels like a delicate nest away from the city’s noise.

There are a lot of albums on display.

Vibe
The interior is a beautiful mix of vintage wooden furniture and soft, warm lighting. It’s small, quiet, and incredibly intimate.

The way the sunlight hits the vintage decor makes it a paradise for aesthetic Instagram shots. It’s the perfect place to edit your palace photos while sipping a cold brew.

The taste of coffee
The coffee served in an antique coffee cup is really delicious.
Their hand-drip coffee is brewed with extreme precision. I personally suggest trying their homemade pudding. The silky texture and subtle sweetness are the perfect palate cleansers after a spicy meal at Oyang This is an ideal spot to sit down, look through your photos of the day, and write down your thoughts.

Artistic, vintage, and cozy. The interior is filled with character—wooden furniture, soft lighting, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours.
They are known for their meticulously brewed Hand Drip Coffee.

The lighting on the ceiling is like a living room light in an 80s home in Korea.

The ambient music and the smell of roasting beans create a meditative environment.

The Gwanghwamun Experience Starting.
c. Leesar coffee
The Italian Espresso Experience in Seoul

Info about Leesar coffee
Address: 7, Jong-ro 5-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea

If you are looking for a quick but powerful caffeine boost near Gwanghwamun or Jongno, Leesar Coffee is an absolute must-visit. Known as the pioneer that ignited the “Espresso Bar” trend in South Korea, Leesar Coffee offers a standing-only experience that transports you straight to the streets of Rome or Milan. For those exploring the BTS concert sites or Gyeongbokgung Palace, this is the perfect spot for a high-quality, affordable pick-me-round.

Located in the bustling Jongno district, the Jongno branch of Leesar Coffee features a sophisticated wood-and-stone interior.

The taste of espresso
Leesar Coffee is famous for making espresso accessible and delicious, even for those who usually find it too bitter.
• Cafe Caffe (Espresso): The classic. It’s balanced, rich, and topped with just the right amount of sugar if you prefer.
• Cafe Pieno: An espresso topped with cocoa powder and cream. It’s thick, velvety, and a great entry point for espresso beginners.
• Cafe Onneroso: A fan favorite featuring espresso with cream and a dash of milk. It’s like a tiny, highly concentrated latte that melts in your mouth.

The sight of stacked espresso cups (a signature “proof of visit” photo on Instagram) against the dark wooden counter is incredibly aesthetic. The lighting is focused on the bar, making every shot look like a still from a classic European film.

Mood
Unlike traditional Korean cafes where people sit for hours, Leesar is a “Standing Bar.” You order, enjoy your small cup of liquid gold, and move on. It’s an efficient and stylish way to enjoy coffee, making it a favorite for busy office workers and savvy travelers alike.

My personal feelings & Recommendations
your afternoon with a steaming pot of Kimchi stew at Oyang Sikgwan and finishing with a quiet coffee at Cafe Beolsae or Leesar Coffee gives you a full taste of Seoul’s past and present. It’s a route that satisfies both your hunger and your aesthetic cravings.
Exploring Seoul through the lens of BTS is more than just sightseeing; it’s about discovering the deep-rooted culture and the modern creativity that inspired the members. From the royal dignity of Gyeongbokgung to the humble but rich flavors of Oyang Sikgwan and the artistic peace of Cafe Hummingbird, this route offers a complete sensory experience of the city.
If you want to visit a gem-like restaurant hidden in every corner of Seoul, I recommend you to visit it.
